| Image file formats defining by signature | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Most programs define file format by its extension. But sometimes it can't be done correctly. File could have no or not standard extension.
For example, programs supplied with some digital cameras save shots with extension like ".000" or ".001". Meanwhile saved files are in JPEG or TIFF format. There also can be cases when file is saved with wrong extension (for example downloaded from the Internet). Moreover at server could be files with no extension. In iBrowser we used new concept of image file format defining. Almost all present day graphic files contain in their beginning signature unique for each format. This signature can be from few bites to few tens bites long. It takes only a little longer to read such a small part on file and compare it with table of known signatures then to analyse file extension. But now you can name your files as you like and never think what ".000" extension files are at your hard drive. iBrowser will define it for you and give guaranteed adequate answers. |
